Akzo Nobel launches water-based topcoat for military aerial tankers

AkzoNobel’s Aviation Coatings business unit provides a water-based coating for the French Air Force’s new long-range aerial tanker in service >Product Aerowave 5001. This is the first application in the French Air Force’s new-generation A330 MRTT aerial tanker.

The new aerial tanker A330 MRTT is manufactured by Airbus, the world’s top aircraft design, R&D and manufacturing company. Currently, 33 of this model are in service and 27 are in order.
So far, Akzo Nobel and the Airbus R&D team have been cooperating for nearly 3 years, meeting the military’s requirements in terms of performance. The two parties will next plan to complete the Aerowave 5001 quality appraisal procedure on Airbus in early 2019 and extend it to all Airbus military models.
