WACKER CEO visited China with the German Chancellor, optimistic about China’s future development, and continue to invest in the Chinese market!

He Da took over as President and CEO of WACKER in May 2021. Due to the impact of the epidemic, this is his first visit to China since taking office. For this reason, He Da is looking forward to this trip to China.

China is WACKER’s largest monomer market in the world and an important cornerstone for the further development of the WACKER Group. We are optimistic about China’s future development, and WACKER’s strong product portfolio fits perfectly with China’s accelerating trend toward low-carbon development. Adhering to the “in China for China” strategy, WACKER will continue to invest in the Chinese market.

In 2021, WACKER’s sales in China will reach 1.79 billion euros, accounting for about 29% of the group’s sales. By the end of 2021, WACKER has invested more than 730 million euros in China. It has built a world-class comprehensive silicone production base in Zhangjiagang and a polymer production base in Nanjing, and has a technology research and development center in Shanghai.

To accelerate the pace of development, WACKER has launched a new round of investment in China in recent years. Last year, WACKER reached an agreement with Shandong Siike New Materials Co., Ltd. (Shandong Sike), one of China’s leading manufacturers of specialty silanes, to acquire 60% of its
‘s equity. The deal closes in 2022
Approved and completed in May. Currently, WACKER is expanding its polymer production capacity in Nanjing. The new emulsion reactor is scheduled to start production in the second half of this year, while the spray dryer is scheduled to start production in 2023. In addition, WACKER is considering and evaluating the further expansion of production capacity for a range of downstream silicone products at its Zhangjiagang production site.
